Barry Allen, Head of Foreign Languages, BTX1 & Danish students
The Danes are back! On Wednesday 22 May we had the pleasure of welcoming back Henriette and Simon from Dejbjerglund Efterskole https://dejbjerglund.dk/ and 26 students.
Upon arrival, we divided the Danish students into the three classes of BTX, led by Joan Boada, Joan Carles Esteve, Marta Navarro and myself.
The classes had already been put in small groups by their English teachers and each Danish student joined one of these groups. Each class had prepared a presentation for our Danish guests.
Then the games and gossiping began!
We started with a twist on the famous TV show Pasapalabra with general knowledge questions in English. The group members had to work together to complete the answer sheet.
After this, each group went though a series of Getting to Know You questions and before we knew it, two hours had flown by. Click the link for chatting in action! Video Danish visit 22 May
The students had been chatting away in English for two hours with each other. A truly lovely experience. There were lots of hugs at the end to say goodbye!!
Here is what some of our students thought of the experience:
I loved discovering things about the Danish culture and getting to know people from another country.
Jordi Valls
At the begining everyone was a bit shy but after we started playing Barry’s Pasapalabra we soon felt comfortable and had a very nice morning together.
Jordi Oliver San Emeterio
I was a little bit nervous to know the Danish girl who was in my group but we connected very quickly and talked a lot! We chatted about a lot of themes, culture, Barcelona and personal things. It was an amazing experience .
Adrià Casado
And here is some of the lovely feedback from the Danish students:
Dear student and teachers,
Thank you for some good lessons with a lot of English speaking. It was a great experience to meet other students and teacher from another country.

HOLAAA AMIGOSSSS…It was exiting to meet the students and hear about the culture, and that they must write exams on paper. And hear how good they were to talk English, and that they don’t get paid for the work they are doing at home, that was surprising because in Denmark its normal to have a job when you are 15-16 years old, but they must read up to their exams. And also, how different they are, and they aren’t scared of being different. That gives me a smile on my face to look at then and see they are themself and doesn’t hide themselves.
Lærke Holberg
I thought the hours we spend together was fun and interesting, it exciting to see how different we thought and the difference in what we knew. They were all so very nice and accommodating they were. It was fun to see how different yet so alike we were, even though it was sometimes hard to understand each other, we found a way to understand what we meant. It was fun to hear about what their day was like compared to how our day is.
Best of luck
Thea
Hola Barcelona
We had a lot of fun meeting the students, and have a lesson with them. It was interesting to compare the differents in our lives. It was a good experience and we enjoyed it.
Thank you for having us!

Hola!
I really enjoyed visiting your classroom, everyone was very openminded and wanted to hear about Denmark, and how we live, just as everyone told us about how the life in Barcelona works. We compared our music, our school/school system and in general our country and lives. Our lives are very similar. I enjoyed talking to the students I sat around a table with. Thank you for welcoming us into your school. The best regards
Tilde
