23 January 2024: We had the enormous pleasure of welcoming the fantastic Cristina from Burlington to IPSI ESO1 to give workshops on characters and animals from English Literature. We went on a tour of some of the most well-known books, from Harry Potter to The Jungle Book to Peter Pan and to many many more! We even saw that there were similarities between The Lion King and Shakespeare’s Hamlet!! Cristina told us about some of the stories and the characters and then we had to answer a series of questions.
Three students in each session were invited to take part in in the Prize Question round which is similar to the ‘Who wants to be a millionaire’ TV programme. If not sure, the student could choose 50/50 to remove two incorrect answers, ask the others in the audience or even phone a friend… the first call was to Cristina’s mum (!) and then for the second call Cristina’s mum was busy so we called one of my friends, Anna. Thankfully, they both got the answer right and the participating students won a super magic pen!!
We had a lovely time, it was a lot of fun and Cristina was very happy too!! She was gobsmacked with the levels of participation and the English being used!!
Here are some of the comments from students:
