It was the only thing that they talked about in the news. I would switch over to see if there was something else on but every reporter would talk about the victims that they had found every week.
Last Monday, a young teenager named Lisa was found in the woods after she had disappeared four days earlier. It was terrible. They showed a picture of her, smiling next to her dog, she seemed happy, just like the other victims of that mysterious serial killer, who terrified the whole town.
My friend Jack and I would watch the news together or talk about the crimes. We lived in a small town and we weren’t used to the horrid and sudden deaths of all these girls who had once been my classmates.
A week after Lisa’s death, they found another body, and a red sweater a couple of metres away. The next day in class I saw Jack with a big smile on his face.

Sarah said, confused \u2018What do you mean, we have class at 8.00\u2019
